The Michigan Delta-Omega chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has always held philanthropy high on its list of priorities. In 2003 when the chapter was founded our brothers established a goal to raise ten thousand dollars for Children's Miracle Network in five years, the goal was met in four. This goal was met in part through pancake breakfasts which the chapter holds every semester during the week before finals.
At a national level, SAE chapters participate in the annual True Gentleman "TG" Day of Service. Brothers - including those at CMU - go out into their local communities and participate in local service projects.
In the sprit of the TG Day of Service, our chapter started Philanthropy Fridays, where a group of brothers offers their services every Friday to various projects around the Mt. Pleasant community. Additionally, in the fall of 2008 we paired with a local school, Sacred Heart Academy, to help with the scoreboard at Varsity athletic events, as well as running the concession stand.
These projects and the people and charities which are impacted by them allow our brothers to make a lasting and real impact on the CMU and Mt. Pleasant communities.
