The True Gentleman
...who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own...
Process
One of the amazing recognitions that our chapter makes is that each of our brothers comes from his own walk of life. This provides us with the socially diverse environment in which can all learn from one another. Many of us, due to negative stereotypes, never saw ourselves as fitting for the Greek community.
Though we each have our own unique story, the process of membership is consistent and can be summed in 4 major parts.
Potential New Member (PNM). Every non-Greek male fits into this category. This is the period where the chapter is getting to know you and you are getting to know the chapter. Though there are a lot of amazing people on our chapter, not everyone may be right for our group. After we have a chance to get to know one another, the group has the opportunity, if they see fit to extend a 'bid,' or invitation of membership.
If accepted, the Potential New Member proceeds with a formal 'pinning' ceremony which binds the chapter to support the New Member through a New Member program. This program is designed to be an opportunity for the New Member to continue to evaluate whether the fit of membership is mutually beneficial. The program focuses on the values, mission, and 12 core areas of the fraternity is a positive environment.
After this period, the chapter once again evaluates the fit of the New Member and the chapter. If the chapter and New Member confirm that his membership would be mutually beneficial, the New Member is initiated as an Active brother and recieves the full rights and priviledges of membership.
Throughout the active membership, the brother continues to grow as a Gentlemen with the help of his fellow brothers. If he elects to, he may be a part of the executive board - an opportunity for himself to gain practical experience as a leader.
As the active member prepares for graduation, he enters the Alumni realm of membership. He continues to be a brother of the fraternity throughout the rest of his life so long as he upholds the values, mission, and oath of membership of the fraternity.
